Casa Brivio
Filippo and Alberico Brivio Sforza wanted Casa Brivio to feel like a Milanese home rather than a conventional hotel. They asked Matteo Thun & Partners to lead the transformation of two rationalist buildings from the 1960s–70s, attached to their family’s historic palazzo.
The exterior remains understated, but the interiors tell Milan’s story through careful material choices: parquet floors, terrazzo bathrooms, brass details, and velvet fabrics in deep greens and blues. Cassina Custom Interiors produced much of the furniture, giving each space a tailored finish.
There are only 16 rooms, each laid out differently. Some have silk-lined wardrobes, others a studio-style separation, and corner suites with more light. This refusal of uniformity reflects the founders’ vision of a lived-in residence, not a standardized hotel.
