Multi-city Itineraries

Swiss art and alpine trails in 7 days

Trip Highlights

When a couple sought an alternative to the crowded Mediterranean summer, the goal was clear: a journey that combined culture, nature, and renewal at a quieter pace.

Spots designed a seven-day itinerary through Basel, Zurich, Lucerne, and Grindelwald, shaped around their shared love of art, alpine hikes, and wellness. The trip wove curated experiences with unhurried pauses, balancing discovery with rest, and becoming a celebration deeply their own.

Basel

The trip began in Basel, birthplace of the Art Basel fair and a city alive with museums, galleries, and creative energy — the perfect introduction to Switzerland.

Knowing their passion for art, architecture, and culture, we curated a “museum marathon” that included the Goetheanum, the Vitra Design Museum just across the German border, and the Fondation Beyeler, all arranged to minimize travel time between stops.

To mark their anniversary, we secured a table at one of Basel’s Michelin-starred restaurant Ackermannshof. Every detail was considered so they could simply enjoy the experience without thinking about the logistics.

Zurich

Zürich’s location makes it an ideal base for day trips, and for this couple, we curated two contrasting experiences.

One day was devoted to the quiet beauty of Lake Caumasee in Flims — a turquoise alpine lake hidden within pine forest, perfect for swimming, strolling the loop trail, or simply lingering by the water with a book in hand.

The second day was designed as their first taste of alpine hiking — rewarding but not overwhelming. Since it was their first time hiking in Switzerland, we chose a route that felt inviting rather than daunting. After a traditional Swiss lunch in Appenzell, the Ebenalp cable car carried them into the high Alps to explore the Wildkirchli caves and pause at the Aescher cliff restaurant before descending on foot to Seealpsee, an emerald lake mirroring jagged peaks.

Lucerne

Perched high above Lake Lucerne, Bürgenstock Resort was the natural choice for the couple’s anniversary centerpiece. Their arrival was cinematic: a boat gliding across the lake, mountains on the horizon, and a private funicular carrying them directly into the landscaped grounds.

In collaboration with our hotel partner, we arranged a thoughtful in-room surprise to celebrate the occasion before they immersed themselves in the resort’s legendary Alpine Spa, moving between an infinity pool suspended over the lake, panoramic saunas, and serene lounges.

By the time they left, Bürgenstock wasn’t just a highlight, it became a place they were already planning to revisit in winter.

Grindelwald

We chose Grindelwald as the final stop. After exploring Switzerland’s culture and lakes from the ground, this was their moment to see it all from above. Skydiving over the Alps had long been on their bucket list, and here they finally ticked it off together.

They also hiked to Lake Oeschinensee, enjoyed a classic cheese fondue dinner we had booked at a local favorite, and joined the Tuesday night street festival alongside locals.

It was the perfect finale and the beginning of plans for a winter return.
