Le Chalet Olivet

Tucked along the rippling Loiret River just an hour from Paris, Le Chalet Olivet is a storybook Swiss chalet relocated from the 1889 Paris Exposition—rebuilt in Olivet in 1862 as a testament to woodworking craftsmanship. Rediscovered decades later when its image arrived via a postcard, it was transformed by Alice and Émile Moireau—descendants of artists—into a quiet haven reflecting childhood memories and botanical beauty. The architecture remains intimate and refined: two snug bedrooms, a kitchen-dining area flooded with natural light, and a creative second-floor loft—all designed with vintage finds, painterly flourishes, and artisanal details for a lived-in, artful feel.

Outside, the chalet’s 350 m² aromatic garden feels like a Monet scene—plane-tree shade, cypress silhouettes, and river views made more poetic by a private pontoon and rowboat for sunset excursions. It’s a place where mornings begin with savoring mint or rosemary-infused brews, afternoons drift by leisurely on the water, and evenings glow with quiet charm. Olivet’s village shops and Friday markets—just steps away—make this escape feel both secluded and seamlessly rooted in the rhythms of rural life.
