In Paris's 11th arrondissement, Maison on Rue Saint-Hubert represents Japanese chef Sota Atsumi's vision: a welcoming space, free from pretense, where guests can casually enjoy refined cuisine. One of Paris's most acclaimed chefs, Atsumi trained under world-renowned Joël Robuchon before honing his craft at trendy Parisian spots Vivant and Le Clown Bar, building his reputation before realizing his dream of opening Maison.
Nestled in a modest concrete building, this cozy duplex space was transformed by the chef and his wife. Terracotta bricks warm the floors and walls, while upstairs, an eight-meter-long wooden communal table and dining tables face an open kitchen. The concept is beautifully simple: dining feels like being welcomed into someone's home.
Though Atsumi is Japanese, his cuisine is primarily Western, yet Japanese culinary elements and meticulous attention to detail shine throughout. Don't miss the wine pairing—sommelier Takebayashi Takashi's passion and expertise make it my recent favorite wine experience!
